Our Core Leadership
Principles
We believe meaningful,
sustainable success for a team or organization over the long haul requires
development of the overall leadership competencies of the individuals.
Technology changes quickly. The competitive landscape can likewise
change overnight. The economic environment will remain turbulent.
To navigate all this, you need leaders who can adapt to the changes and lead
your organization through them.
We believe leaders are
responsible for both delivering results and building capability. Results
are critically important, but if they are delivered without building
capability--putting in place skills, processes, etc. to make it easier to
deliver next time--the delivery success will not be sustainable.
We believe organizational effectiveness is dependent on the people that
make up the organization, and that employee satisfaction is a critical
dependency to achieve customer satisfaction and shareholder value. By
intentionally developing, nurturing, and valuing the diversity of the people
of the organization, we reap growth and effectiveness of the business. By
ignoring this fundamental principle, no strategy or process can provide a
sustained foundation for growth.
We believe each person in a company is an incredibly complex,
multi-dimensional individual that cannot be simply categorized in a box or
considered a “resource”. Companies must fundamentally understand that each
individual has a physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual dimension,
and that encouraging balance in the dimensions leads to more effective
performance.
We believe there are great reserves of untapped leadership capability in
every organization and individual. By discovering and developing that
leadership capability (“increasing leadership bandwidth”) with practical,
proven approaches, we help unleash significant leaps in personal and
organizational performance.
We believe that leaders can be made, and that leadership skills can be
developed through clear, practical teaching and modeling.
We believe leadership is only developed over time.
Leadership is not a class--it's a process--and it must be intentionally
charted, customized to the individual, coached, tracked, and revised as
conditions warrant.
We believe one of the first jobs
of a leader is to see reality. With a firm grasp of how things are right
now and a clear vision for how they want to create the future, they are able
to chart a course to follow.
We believe true leaders
understand how completely interdependent we are. Growing personal
initiative and independence is important, but over time we realize that true
success at work and in life is not attainable on our own.
We believe the climate of rapid change and high ambiguity is here to stay
and will increasingly be a challenge for organizations regardless of industry,
size, or geographical location. Thus, it is critical that companies develop
their leaders to thrive in the midst of ambiguity.
